How to have a good night's sleep

Sounds a little too good to be true right? In all honesty you have probably heard of some if not all of these before. But let’s be honest, sometimes you just need a reminder! Here are some oldie but goodie ideas that might just help you achieve a good night's sleep.

Try to limit your technology before bed. Preferably have a tech free time-zone

for as close to two hours before bed if you can.

  • relax in a nice warm bath

  • don’t have an afternoon nap

  • limit caffeine in the afternoon

  • cut down on alcohol

  • do some light stretches to relieve tension

  • listen to some relaxing music

  • meditate

  • have a herbal tea (there are lots of sleep inducing blends on the market)

  • make a list of everything on your mind and look at it tomorrow

  • write your thoughts in a journal

  • have a quiet, comfortable and decluttered bedroom

  • have a regular time to go to bed

  • self-massage

  • focus on your breathing...box breathing is super easy and effective. Breathe in for a count of three, hold for a count of three, exhale for a count of three, hold for a count of three...repeat until you feel a sense of calm come over your body. If able, increase the count in increments with six being the highest.
